Delta Senior School is a school that offers four specializations to students with mild intellectual disability with IQ range of 50 to 70. The four specialization includes “Food Services”, “Hotel and Accommodation Services”, “Landscape Operations” and lastly “Retail Operations”. After the training period, the students who are able to complete the specialization will be placed into open employment. Uniqlo is one of the organisations that gives job to people with special needs. For the students that are not quite job-ready, will proceed on to continue training for job employment.
Through the special training, it helps seniors in Delta Senior School to develop important skills in seeking, securing and sustaining employment in the retail industry in the future. It allows them to secure jobs and have the confidence in competing for a job when they go out into the working world. It is to ensure that the seniors can achieve an independent life while fostering an inclusive society.
For this service learning project, My classmate and I will apply what we've learned by helping and guiding the seniors in Delta Senior School on how to use Clipchamp in creating their own video.
Through this service learning, I enjoyed myself very much and from what my classmate and I have observed, our buddy manage to learn everything we have taught her and she even knew what are the skills needed to be applied in order to avoid accidental deletion of the font she edited. She could easily locate the font and edit exactly the same way she did previously and whenever she like changing the music, she will search for it on the web and download into mp3 format. This really made us feel a sense of accomplishment.
